sherman weekend
I was fortunate to cross into CT on Friday 6/2 and have Betty come to pick me up in Sherman. I had hiked from Sherman to Cornwall Bridge last fall so I figured two zero days were good while my trail family, Butch and Golf, did those 30 miles. It was a good weekend, seeing kids and grandkids, going to Mass, restocking, purchasing some necessities for Butch and Golf, taking a hot shower, celebrating our 47th anniversary with dinner at the beach. Then Drew dove me back to meet my trail family and to start hiking again. We will be in MA this week!!!! One of Golf's talents is planning our itinerary. Below is our plan for the week.
And while we couldn't stay at one shelter in NY because bears had taken it over, and while a bear had killed a donkey in its paddock in Kent, CT, which by the way is a town along the AT, Cromwell has it's own residential bear. This bear was just carved from a huge tree stump in a front yard on Geer Street. It is simply amazing!

Back to the trail in CT.
