5.1.17 midpoint

I reached the midpoint of the AT today, halfway between Springer Mountain, GA and Mount Katahdin in Baxter Park, Maine. For me, I am now 283 miles into my journey, my 22nd day since I left Rock Fish Gap, VA. Everyday is different...different trees, different woods, different flowers, sometimes the same hikers, sometimes new ones. Today a "trail angel" brought us lunch: sandwiches, chips, beer, and soda. What a treat!!!! God bless her! It will help my food rations last another meal longer. Staying at Toms Run Shelter tonight. Need to charge my phone with my battery pack.

Tomorrow we will hike 10-13 miles, then get a ride into Mount Holly Springs, PA where we will restock on food, eat a good meal, and spend the night.
