Obstacle or Opportunty

Obstacle or Opportunity

As I was going over the trail guide for the next day's hike, at one point it said caution...extremely rocky. All I could think was, "Here we go again...another obstacle in my path to Katahdin!" My feet were already sore, my knee and arm bruised from falling when coming down off Raven Walk. Enough is enough!!! I remind myself that progress is made on the trail one step at a time. So off I go!

Sure enough, not two miles down the trail was this beautiful field. There was no visible trail other than a white blaze about a quarter mile from me! So I began to pick a path across the rocks Sometimes I have to get down and crawl in spots. When I finally get to the white blaze I stop. Looking down between the rocks were some flowers poking their heads up between the rocks. The more I looked, the more flowers I saw.

Where I was seeing an obstacle, the flower found an opportunity! The same is true with our faith. We can see the obstacle that prevents us from growing in our love of God and lose hope, or we can use the opportunity within the cracks and crevices to find God, to allow God to let the flowers poke their heads above the boulders, the obstacle to a deeper relationship with Christ. My prayer each day is that we see life's challenges not as boulders blocking the way, but as opportunities to grow in our love for our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support as I continue on my journey. 300 miles done! Approximately 1900 to go!!!!
